May 11, 2014 · Correct, truck battery. If it's in the ignition it doesn't need a fob battery as the fob battery is only to operate the buttons, not the ID chip which is why you have a spare internal key to open the doors but can still start the vehicle if the fob battery is dead.

Luckily the ignition still works just fine, so whatever piece I broke off doesn't seem to be critical. So to sum up a rant and the moral of the story; if you go out and find a dead truck battery and your key won't come out, just get power hooked up from a jump or portable battery pack and you should be able to get the fob out.
